According to Nikki Ralston (2016) “Wizer worksheets are perfect for take home exams. Students can complete and submit the exams from their home computer. The teacher can limit and monitor the amount of time students have to work on the exam by manually opening and closing access to the worksheet from the teacher account.
Furthermore, when the teacher review submitted responses, the amount of time each student spent on the worksheet appears at the top of the page. This is important feedback for the teacher.”

Other advantages of Wizer.me to take into account:
  • It’s time saving thanks to the automatic checking and grading.
  • It’s money saving, because teachers won’t have to make photocopies for their students.
  • It allows the teacher to create a worksheet with a wide variety of activities.

STEP 6: Ready to start? As you can see in the image, the first thing to do is to select a DESIGN you like, and to create the title of your worksheet.

STEP 7: I've chosen "Back to School" design, and I've already written the title of my worksheet. Have a look at the left part! You can select different cover images, and the color and the font you like.

STEP 8: If you see what is below the title, you will find the option of ADDING THE TASK you want your students to do. Have a look at the VARIETY of tasks you can include in your worksheet!

STEP 9: Imagine you want to create a "FILL ON AN IMAGE" TASK. Click on that task and then you choose if you want to upload an image or select a page from a PDF.

STEP 10: Once you have uploaded the image, click on EDIT, so you can write a title and the instruction for the activity.

STEP 11: Here you will write your title and instruction. You can RECORD your instruction if you want!

STEP 12: Then you have to click on the objects, so that your students know where to click and write the words.

STEP 13: When you finish click on DONE.

STEP 14: Now what if you want to add a video? Just click on the "VIDEO" task. You can upload a video or write a Youtube link. Then you can add a Title and the Instruction, which again can be recorded. Don't forget to click on DONE when you finish.

WIZER.ME IN THE CLASSROOM

If you want to use this tool in your classroom, here comes an example of a lesson where students have to work with an interactive worksheet from Wizer.me

It's Halloween's week and the teacher has prepared a 40' lesson to celebrate this special date with her students of 4th grade. The lesson will be carried out in the ICT  room of the school, because students will need the computers to do the worksheet that was previously shared in the Edmodo group. Students are already familiarized with the tool, because the teacher has previously shown them how to do tasks in an interactive worksheet from Wizer.

WARM-UP: As a warm-up, the teacher will show students pictures of different masks, and will ask them to mention the characters the masks are representing, and to say what they know of their stories.

ACTIVITIES:

1) Students will log in to their Edmodo account, and they will open the link to the Wizer.me worksheet. The first activity will be an oral guessing game in pairs, and students are supposed to watch a video and guess which monsters are inside the box.The teacher will monitor the students during the lesson, but they won’t get a mark for the activities, since the idea is to have fun and enjoy celebrating Halloween.

2) Once students finish watching the video, they will have to do a multiple choice activity, in which they have to read riddles and guess which of the 3 options is the correct one. The worksheet gives automatic feedback, so students will know if they are choosing well or not.

3) When the riddles are ready, the following activity will be a “Spot the differences” game. The students can circle the differences in the pictures.

4) Then, students will do a word scramble activity.

Once they have finished with all the activities in the interactive worksheet, the students will sign out from Wizer.me, and then log out from the Edmodo account. The teacher will give general feedback and will clarify any vocabulary students might have found difficult.

5) Memotest: the teacher will paste flashcards of different monsters on the board, and the students will have to guess as a whole class, where the matching picture is.

6) Finally, the teacher will give students a board game to play in pairs.
