LEVEL: intermediate
NUMBER: 20 students
TOPIC: TRAVELLING
TIME OF THE LESSON: 90 minutes
WARMER: The teacher will show students pictures of different holiday
resorts in Argentina, and will ask students to name them, and mention (if they
know) the province where they’re located.
Then, the students will be asked to
discuss in pairs the following questions. The teacher will monitor de discussion by walking around the classroom, helping when necessary and taking down notes of common mistakes. The teacher will write on the board students' answers to question 1.
WEB SESSION: The teacher will share with the students
the link to an online newspaper, and students will be asked to read the piece of news about 10 of the best
hotels near the sights in Argentina, and to check their predictions of which holiday resorts were the most visited in Argentina.
Students will be given 2 task sheets:
1) A photocopy
2) An electronic exercise: students will be asked to look up the meaning of some selected words from the piece of news, in the Oxford Learner's Dictionary, and then match the words with their definitions.
WHAT'S NEXT: As
follow up activities, students will do a crossword about vocabulary from the
piece of news, and then they will make their own ranking list of the hotels, from the most to the least interesting for them. Finally, the teacher will give students general feedback on their performance.

WARMER: The teacher will show students pictures of different tourist attractions in the world, and will ask students to name them and mention (if they don't know they can try to guess) the city or country where they’re located.
Then, the students will be asked to
discuss in pairs the following questions. The teacher will monitor de discussion by walking around the classroom, helping when necessary and taking down notes of common mistakes.

2) An electronic exercise: students will be asked to do a DROP-DOWN exercise, where they have to choose the correct word to fill in the gaps. They can look up words in the Collins Dictionary Online.

WHAT'S NEXT: As a follow-up activity, students will be asked to write an email they would send to a friend, recommending him/her the best places to visit in San Francisco. First, students will make the draft of the email, and after teacher's feedback on it (oral suggestions), they'll type it and send it to the teacher's gmail account, for a final correction.
Finally, the teacher will give students general feedback on their performance.
