VOKI AND EDUCATION
Voki is an educational tool that allows users to create talking characters. These characters can be customized to look like historical figures, cartoons, animals, and even yourself. Voki characters can be emailed, shared on social media, and embedded on websites. Users can also create and share attractive presentations with their characters.
Voki Classroom and Voki Teach have many benefits for education:
-Teachers can set up their lessons and allow students to immediately access their Voki assignments and begin creating their vokis.
- Teachers can assign homework, set deadlines, and verify time of submission. Thus, students can use Voki
classroom to work on their assignments at home.
-When it comes to Privacy, with Voki Classroom, students don't need to register. Usernames and
passwords are automatically generated for them. Lesson Pages can be
password protected and students' names hidden so only those you
authorize can view them.
-Voki Teach provides teachers with lessons crafted by certified
teachers.
Each lesson comes with a tailor-made lesson plan and graphic organizer
that provides the teacher with
all the information needed to incorporate it in the classroom. With Voki
Teach, teachers will spend more time facilitating their learning
environment and less time on creating their lessons plans.
As you can see, Voki has many benefits for education, as it is engaging, visually appealing, time-saving, and it's a tool which can be used both inside and outside the classroom.
STEP 1: Go to https://www.voki.com/ and click on LOG IN. There, you have to click on Sign Up Here in order to create your free account.
STEP 2: Once you have registered, click on Proceed to Account.
STEP 3: You will be asked to LOG IN and then to agree to Voki Terms of Service in order to finish your registration.
STEP 4: Once you click on Continue, you are sent to the Home page of Voki. To create your first talking character you need to click on CREATE.
STEP 5: An avatar will appear at random. To choose a character, click on the icon of the boy's face. On its right you will find different icons that will lead you to different characters. The starred characters are not free.
STEP 6: If you have chosen a person, you can click on the icon of clothes and change the characters' clothes and add accessories.
In the case of the animals you're not allowed to explore that icon.
STEP 7: Click on the icon of the picture that is below the clothes, to select the place where the character will be. The icons that will open on the right represent the places. For example the house stands for indoors, while the leaves stand for nature.
STEP 8: If you want to change the colour of the characters' body (eyes, hair, mouth), click on the icon of the palette.
STEP 9: Last but not least, to give voice to your character you have 3 options:
1- type what you want it to say,
2- upload and audio, or
3- record your voice.
And the funniest part is that you can select the language and the speaker (if you've typed the talk), and add sound effects!
STEP 10: You're getting closer to the end! To save all your work, please click on Save. You'll be asked to name your voki and save it.
STEP 11: Finally! Once your voki is finished, you can watch it, share it (through Facebook, Twitter, Url link or via e-mail), and you can edit it, or create a new one.
